Operations is the function that keeps everything else running, and its scope varies more by company size than any other role on this board. At a smaller operator you might own vendor relationships, incident process and half the project portfolio at once. At a large one you would specialise into a single lane.

Platform operations covers system monitoring, release coordination and incident response, which in this industry means being reachable when a major fixture is live. Project and delivery managers run cross-functional work between engineering, product and commercial, and this is where a large share of operations hiring actually sits. Business operations roles handle process design, vendor management and the internal machinery that scales a company past its first hundred people.

Salary ranges: EUR 26,000 to 34,000 at junior level, 34,000 to 48,000 at mid-level, and 48,000 to 60,000 for senior operations managers and heads of operations.

Key skills: Process thinking, comfort coordinating people who do not report to you, and steadiness under time pressure. Project management certification helps but rarely substitutes for having run something end to end.
