Finance teams in iGaming handle the ordinary work of any finance function plus a set of problems specific to the industry: multi-currency player balances, gaming tax across several jurisdictions, revenue recognition on bonuses that may never be wagered, and regulatory reporting where the auditor is also a regulator.

Accountants and management accountants run the monthly cycle. Financial controllers own the close and the reporting. FP&A analysts model player cohorts and marketing spend, sitting close to commercial teams. Payroll specialists deal with a workforce spread across countries and contract types.

Roles are listed in Malta and across Europe, and finance is a function where a qualification travels well between industries even when domain knowledge doesn't.

Salary ranges: EUR 28,000 to 38,000 for junior roles, 38,000 to 50,000 at mid-level, and 50,000 to 72,000 for controllers and senior finance managers.

Key skills: ACCA, CIMA or CPA qualification, often required from mid-level upward. Strong Excel and financial modelling. Understanding of gaming-specific revenue recognition and tax treatment is a genuine differentiator, and one of the few things that keeps finance people in the industry once they arrive.
