Compliance is one of the fastest-growing functions in Malta's iGaming industry. Every MGA-licensed operator needs compliance officers, AML analysts, responsible gaming specialists and legal counsel to meet obligations under the Gaming Act, EU anti-money laundering directives and GDPR.
Day-to-day work includes customer due diligence, transaction monitoring, policy drafting, regulatory correspondence, audit preparation and liaison with the MGA and FIAU. As operators expand into new regulated markets, multi-jurisdictional licensing expertise is increasingly sought after.
Salary ranges: β¬28,000ββ¬40,000 for junior compliance officers, β¬40,000ββ¬55,000 at mid-level, and β¬55,000ββ¬80,000+ for senior roles and MLROs. The MLRO role commands a premium due to personal regulatory liability.
Key skills: Attention to detail, analytical thinking, clear written communication. ICA or ACAMS certifications add measurable value. Legal or financial services backgrounds transfer directly.
