As our YouTube Optimisation Expert, you will be the optimisation engine behind our video content. Under the guidance of the Head of Video, you’ll take primary responsibility for ensuring each video not only reaches its intended audience but also converts that reach into measurable value (subscribers, affiliate-driven revenue, engagement). You’ll be a bridge between creative teams, analytics, and monetisation leads.
Key Responsibilities
YouTube SEO & Discovery
- Conduct thorough keyword research and competitor benchmarking for new video topics
- Craft SEO-rich titles, tags, descriptions, and thumbnails to maximize discoverability
- Optimize playlists, cards, chapters, and end screens to keep audiences engaged
Content & Metadata Optimisation
- Refine video metadata (tagging, timestamps, pinned comments, community posts)
- Work with editors and scriptwriters to engineer hooks, intro sequences, and retention boosters
- Oversee internal A/B tests on thumbnails, titles, captions, and CTAs
Monetisation & Affiliate Strategy
- Embed affiliate links, codes, and strategic CTAs in descriptions, pinned comments, overlays
- Monitor and analyze affiliate link performance; optimize conversion pathways
- Coordinate with monetisation team to ensure compliance, tracking and revenue attribution
Analytics & Growth Insights
- Track performance metrics including CTR, average view duration (AVD), watch time, retention curves, and RPM
- Produce weekly/monthly performance reports with insights and strategic recommendations
- Identify dips or growth opportunities and develop intervention strategies
Collaboration & Workflow Integration
- Serve as the optimisation gatekeeper before video publishing
- Advise creative teams on trending formats, thumbnail styles, and hook mechanics
- Liaise with SEO, content marketing, and business intelligence teams to align strategies
Platform & Policy Vigilance
- Stay current on YouTube algorithm changes, monetisation policies, and best practices
- Ensure no policy violations (e.g. copyright, disclosure, affiliate compliance)
- Audit published content periodically to ensure metadata, links, and CTAs remain optimal
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Minimum 3 years’ experience managing YouTube channels with deliberate growth/SEO focus
- Track record of demonstrable growth (views, subscription, watch time) via metadata optimisation
- Strong skills with YouTube Studio & Analytics, retention curves, traffic origin analysis
- Proficiency with tools like TubeBuddy, vidIQ, Farsight, or equivalent A/B testing platforms
- Understanding of affiliate marketing, UTM tracking, conversion funnels
- Excellent writing skills: titles, hooks, descriptions, CTAs
- Comfortable in interpreting quantitative data and converting insight into action
- Collaborative nature; able to guide and influence creative teams
- Strong organisational skills, capable of handling multiple channels and projects
Performance Metrics & KPIs
- Channel Growth: incremental increase in impressions, views, subscribers
- Engagement: improvement in CTR, AVD, retention, session depth
- Monetisation Impact: affiliate-driven conversions, revenue per video, RPM
- Optimization Velocity: time from video draft to final optimised upload
- Testing Output: number of tests run (titles, thumbnails, CTAs), and lift attributable
Preferred / “Nice-to-Have” Attributes
- Experience in iGaming or other affiliate sectors
- Familiarity with content networks, multi-channel setups, or syndication strategies
- Fluency in a second language (Spanish, German, or Portuguese)
- Proficiency with Google Sheets (data analysis, reporting, or automation)
- Basic skills in graphic design / thumbnail creation / prototyping
- Ability to produce quick reference guides or internal training for optimisation best practices
