Position Overview: 

The Editorial Designer is responsible for creating visually compelling layouts and designs for both print and digital publications. This role combines creativity with a strong understanding of typography, photography, and editorial storytelling to effectively communicate content and enhance reader engagement. The Editorial Designer works closely with editors, writers, and marketing teams to ensure all materials align with brand guidelines and project objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and layout of magazines, event guides, and related editorial products, ensuring creative excellence and brand consistency.
  • Translate complex editorial concepts into visually engaging layouts that enhance storytelling and readability.
  • Collaborate closely with editors, writers, photographers, and the wider creative team to deliver high-quality publications on schedule.
  • Oversee design production from concept to print/digital delivery, including liaising with printers and ensuring quality control.
  • Contribute to the development of templates, style guides, and visual systems that streamline editorial workflows.
  • Mentor and support junior designers, providing creative direction and feedback where needed.
  • Stay current with editorial design trends, typography, and digital publishing tools to continuously elevate the team’s output.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of professional experience in editorial or graphic design, with a strong portfolio showcasing publication design.
  • Advanced skills in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator).
  • Solid understanding of print production processes and digital publishing platforms.
  • Excellent typography, layout, and visual storytelling skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Collaborative mindset and ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams.
