As part of GiG’s growth strategy, we are establishing a dedicated Migrations Team to leadthe migration of brands from legacy systems and other platforms into our modern GiGCoreX platform. In the role of Head of Data Migration, you will lead and oversee all data migration initiatives across GiG's product suite, ensuring seamless transitions from legacy systems to the CoreX platform. This role will focus on standardizing migration processes, enhancing automation, and promoting data governance and consistency across CoreX,Magic, LogicX, and DataX.
Key Responsibilities
- Team Leadership & Development: Lead recruitment and onboarding, ensuring team composition aligns with evolving operational needs. Conduct monthly one-on-ones, mentor team members, and define career pathways aligned with GiG’s Objectives and Key Results (OKRs).
- Standard Operational Procedures (SOPs): Develop and implement standardized procedures for data migrations to ensure consistency, efficiency, and quality across all projects.
- Migration Templates & Self-Service Capabilities: Expand and enhance existing migration templates, aiming to create self-service tools that empower teams to execute migrations with minimal oversight.
- Migration Support & Maintenance: Oversee the upkeep and support of migrated systems
post-launch, ensuring smooth operations and addressing any issues promptly. - Research & Development (R&D): Investigate and integrate automation solutions,
leveraging existing tools within the GiG ecosystem and incorporating AI technologies to
accelerate migration processes. - Migration Trials: Design and conduct migration trials to identify potential issues and
mitigate risks during actual migration events. - Case Studies & Documentation: Produce detailed case studies that showcase GiG's
expertise in data migrations, highlighting successful internal and external projects. - Cross-Functional Coordination: Collaborate with product, compliance, and delivery
teams to plan and execute migrations, ensuring alignment with business objectives and
timelines. - Migration Status Tracking: Establish mechanisms to monitor and report on the status of
migrations, integrating with complex project plans to provide real-time updates. - Data Governance & Consistency: Serve as the ambassador for data governance,
promoting data consistency across CoreX, Magic, LogicX, and DataX, and ensuring
adherence to best practices. - Training & Documentation: Ensure data delivery adheres to governance, security, and
compliance standards. Document operational processes, incident playbooks, and
onboarding materials. Facilitate upskilling and training initiatives that enhance your team's technical capabilities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s/Master’s in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- 7+ years of experience in Data Engineering.
- Proven experience in leading data migration projects, preferably within the iGaming or regulated industries.
- Strong knowledge of data governance, compliance, and data quality assurance practices.
- Strong SQL skills and experience working with structured and unstructured datasets.
- Familiarity with automation tools and AI technologies applied to data migration.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
- Solution-oriented mindset with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
- Strong experience with Big Data and streaming technologies including ClickHouse, Kafka and NiFi
- Strong knowledge of Microservices, APIs, GraphQL
